We're now offering the E2 with a custom image of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (released on April 24, 2008) that includes a number of additional applications, an offline selection of Wikipedia, and a few performance enhancements, all stored on a 200X 4GB Compact Flash for the same low price as our previous 1GB System. This software would cost a fortune on a traditional PC.


Office Productivity With Ubuntu, we're proud to offer the entire OpenOffice suite, which is fully compatible with Microsoft Office and practically identical in interface.

  • Word Processor: Open, create, and save Microsoft Word (.doc) files. Even export as PDFs!
  • Spreadsheet: OpenOffice Calc feels just like Microsoft Excel and, of course, can handle .xls files with ease.
  • Presentations: OpenOffice Impress enables you to make Powerpoint presentations, which you can play right from the E2 by attaching a projector to its VGA port.
  • Create and Edit PDFs: No need to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional, when you can create and edit PDFs on our system.
  • Email Client: Mozilla Thunderbird offers similar functionality to Outlook and serves as a powerful local email program.


Get online, fast

  • Plug-in-Play Internet: Each E2 is pre-configured to connect online — just plug in an Ethernet cable, or add a USB Wi-Fi dongle or 3G Modem.
  • Browse the web: Firefox 3 offers an advanced alternative to Internet Explorer, complete with tabbed browsing, faster performance, an RSS reader, and hundreds of great plugins, like Adblock Plus. And for users with slow connections, we have Dillo — a speedy browser that strips away videos and flash and helps load pages quickly.
  • Skype: Place free calls to Skype users around the world and call mobile phones and landlines at great rates.
  • Instant Messaging: MSN, Yahoo! IM, AIM, Jabber, ICQ, and IRC Chat accounts can all be accessed with the instant messaging program Pidgin.


Multimedia

  • Edit Photos: The E2 now boasts F-Spot, an intuitive program for importing, editing, and managing photos.
  • Make Art: The GIMP is comparable to Adobe Photoshop in capability and is ideal for designing brochures or other complex graphical documents.
  • Play Audio and Videos: Never download codecs again! Our powerful media players include every codec and the E2 is powerful enough to play full-screen video!
  • Connect your iPod: Connect as many different iPods as you like and access their files instantly!
  • Edit Music: Audacity is a powerful sound-editing tool similar to Adobe Audition.
  • Fantastic Games: Not just Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Chess — we now have the original SimCity!


Local Wikipedia Selection

  • 4625 Articles with 24000 Pictures: For users in areas without constant internet access, we've included a selection of articles hand-picked for the quality of their writing and educational value by the charity SOS Children. Totaling 14 million words, it opens in a web browser and doesn't require an internet connection.


Quickly Connects to Windows Terminal Server
